Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a wedding singer cost?
Our prices start from £350 for a solo wedding singer, or £550 for an acoustic duo. Our full price list including combined packages can be found here.
How far in advance should we book you?
We recommend booking as early as possible. We take bookings up to two years in advance and peak dates (Saturdays in summer) usually go first. However, there’s always a chance of last minute availability so get in touch!
How do we book you?
Contact us with your wedding date, venue, preferred package. I’ll check availability and discuss your requirements from there!
Do you take a deposit?
We ask for a 10% non-refundable deposit to secure all bookings. The balance for your wedding will be due one month prior to your date unless otherwise agreed.
Can we hear samples of your singing?
Yes. We have lots of videos on Instagram and TikTok. If there’s a specific song in our repertoire that you’d like to hear - just ask! We may have a live recording we can share with you.
Do you learn special songs for ceremonies or first dances?
Yes. We can learn four new songs for your ceremony (entrance, signing the register and exit) as well as one for your first dance. This is included in the prices for the ceremony and evening packages.
How long do you play for, and can we break the sets up?
This depends on the package you book. We can split set times to suit your needs but this should be discussed in advance if possible. More details can be found on the Weddings & Private Events page or by contacting us.
What style of music do you sing?
Our repertoire covers country, indie, pop, dance, folk, alternative, soul, motown, and lots more! We can tailor set lists to suit the atmosphere you want and can incorporate any requests from our existing repertoire.
Can you offer specific genre set lists?
Set lists can be tailored to suit your requirements based on the songs in my repertoire. We are regularly asked to do country, indie or Irish set lists. Songs ordered by genre can be viewed here.
Can we request songs?
Yes! All our packages include unlimited requests from our existing repertoire.
Can people request songs on the day?
Whilst we can accept a limited number of requests on the day, we recommend compiling key requests in advance to ensure they fit the set list and atmosphere.
What equipment do you provide?
The equipment we use depends on the nature of the booking. The basic set up I use includes a Faith electro acoustic guitar, an RCF PA system and a Shure Beta 58A microphone. A full RCF PA system with lights is supplied for DJ packages. A complete list of equipment can be supplied on request.
Are you insured and do you have PAT-tested equipment?
Yes. I carry public liability insurance and use PAT-certified electrical equipment. I can supply insurance details on request.
Do you charge travel or accommodation fees?
Travel within a 25 miles of radius is included. For venues beyond that, a travel fee of 55p per mile applies. Overnight accommodation costs may be charged for distant venues or late finishes — these will be outlined in the quote.
What is your payment and cancellation policy?
A non-refundable 10% deposit secures the booking with the balance due a month before the wedding. Cancellation terms will be detailed in the contract.
Do you require meals or breaks?
Food and drinks are not required but we’re always grateful when it is offered! There isn’t always time so please discuss this with us in advance if you would like to provide supplier meals. We will factor in our own break times as needed and ensure the times fit around your day.
Will you provide a contract?
Yes. All bookings are confirmed with a written contract detailing performance times, fees, deposit, cancellation terms and technical requirements.
Why do people charge extra for weddings?
We don’t charge extra for weddings! Our prices start at the same point for all private events and packages can be customised to suit each client’s needs.
What happens on the day?
We will arrive around an hour before the agreed start time and liaise with the wedding organiser/venue staff to make sure we are set up and ready to start on time.
How does your DJ service work?
When booking our DJ service, we will ask you to put together a playlist of all your favourites. Scott will then use this playlist to work from on the night, reading the room to create the perfect set. Requests are always welcome on the night unless you ask us not take any! The DJ service covers from 7pm until midnight and includes lights, DJ booth and sound system. An additional hour can be added for £150.
Can you offer DJ & Sax packages?
I am very happy to DJ alongside a sax player! However, we this is not something we currently provide. If you would like to book a sax player to go along with our DJ service, this would need to be arranged by yourselves and discussed with us in advance.
Can we add more after we’ve booked?
If you would like to add more time or add music to another part of the day in advance then just ask - we can usually accommodate this! We include up to an hour for delays at no extra cost, however, if things are running later than this or you decide on the day that you’d like us to stay longer, we will do our best to accommodate this for an additional fee.
Do you perform with other musicians?
We primarily offer either an acoustic solo singer or an acoustic duo. We do not offer any other line ups. We have previously performed with string quartets and sax players but this must be discussed with both parties in advance.
Where do you travel?
We include travel costs for all weddings within 25 miles of our home address. Additional travel costs, if applicable, will be charged at 55p per mile and added to your final invoice.
Are there any extra costs?
We will always try to go through the full price breakdown with you at the point of booking to avoid any surprises. We charge extra for travel as detailed above and our DJ service can be booked for an additional hour (until 1am) for £150. We are happy to learn new songs in addition to the ceremony songs and first dance for £25 per song.
Why are your prices different on other websites?
Some agencies and wedding websites charge you to book suppliers through them. You will always get the best price by booking direct with Northern Acoustic.
